If your armrest is "blown out" or the leather is damaged, replacing it is a quick DIY fix. Here is how to remove it properly.
Step-by-Step Removal Guide
1. Open the Armrest [00:18]
-
Open the center console armrest fully to access the underside of the lid.
2. Remove the Beauty Trim [00:23]
-
Locate the plastic beauty trim cover on the hinge side.
-
Pop the cover up and out to reveal the mounting hardware hidden underneath.
3. Remove the Mounting Screws [00:27]
-
You will see six screws total (typically a mix of black and silver screws).
-
Pro Tip: Use a manual screwdriver rather than a power drill. These screws can be very tight, and using a drill increases the risk of stripping the heads. If you strip these, the removal becomes significantly more difficult [01:05].
-
Apply firm downward pressure while turning to break the screws loose [01:12].
4. Extraction [01:21]
-
Once the final screw is removed, the armrest lid will simply fall forward toward you. It is now completely detached and ready for replacement or repair.
