350Z Upgrade: 370Z Hub & Axle Installation Guide
Brought to you by Sac City Auto Parts
Why this upgrade? 370Z hubs and axles are significantly stronger than the 350Z units.
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Disassembly [01:31]
-
Remove the wheels. Use protected sockets for high-end wheels to prevent scratching [01:43].
-
Unbolt the brake calipers (19mm) and hang them securely using the factory brake line hook—do not let them dangle by the rubber line [02:05].
-
Remove the rotors and the axle nut (32mm) after pulling the cotter pin [03:13].
2. Clearing Space [04:39]
-
Drop the sway bar by removing the four 14mm nuts. This provides the necessary clearance to remove the axles without damaging the boots [04:54].
-
Unbolt the six 14mm bolts connecting the axle to the differential flange [05:07].
3. Removing the Hubs [07:27]
-
Remove the four 17mm bolts holding the hub to the knuckle. A fixed-wobbly extension is highly recommended for these tight spaces [07:35].
-
If you are reusing extended studs (like ARP), press or tap them out of the old hubs and install them into your new 370Z hubs [09:01].
4. Installing the 370Z Hubs [12:42]
-
Position the new hub into the knuckle. Ensure the bolt holes are properly aligned before hand-threading the 17mm hardware [13:05].
-
Tighten in a cross-pattern to ensure the hub seats evenly [13:52].
5. Installing the 370Z Axles [14:17]
-
Pro Tip: Use anti-seize on the splines to prevent the axle from seizing in the hub later [14:23].
-
The Passenger side is the longer axle, and the Driver side is the shorter one [14:23].
-
Mate the axle to the differential flange. Use 370Z hardware or high-grade (Grade 8) bolts, as they have longer shoulders designed for these axles [15:58].
6. Final Assembly [19:11]
-
Tighten the inner axle bolts (14mm) [19:18].
-
Install the axle nut washer and nut, torque them down, and secure them with the retainer and a new cotter pin [20:48].
-
Reinstall the sway bar, rotors, and calipers [23:12].
